Hedycarya arborea - Porokaiwhiri - Pigeonwood

The lemon-scented flowers, pale green leaves and red-to-orange ripened drupes are features of this native tree. The plate has a line etch and aquatint that is acid etched at varying times to create shadow. Foreground leaf highlights are burnished and the leaves are inked in three colours. A further three colours are used for the drupes, stem and flower details.
